Mother's Day and 6 Months, OH MY!

Well, when I talked to my Mom on Mother's Day she asked if it felt different because this Mother's Day I was truly a Mom for the first time! I said not really, although as I thought about it, as the talks were given in sacrament meeting, I could truly relate. I understand what it is to truly LOVE and care for a crying a baby and to have those sleepless nights. I am learning what it means to be a mother, and I don't think it is something that you ever feel that you have mastered. :) But, I am so grateful for all of the mothers in my life that have helped me to become the wife and mother that I am. So, Mom, Betsy-Mom, Grandma Reid, Grandma Jones, and Grandma Barrus I love you dearly and I am grateful for the wonderful women that you are.
And, I can't help but brag about my WONDERFUL Mother's Day Gift. I have been wanting one since I started college, and kept telling Zac that I wanted one for Christmas because it is quite pricy. But, because he works at Macy's we were able to get some extra discounts on it, so we got it for less than 50% of the normal price. YAY! It is part of my birthday as well because it is such a big gift, but I LOVE it. Thank you Sweetheart! (P.S. It was Zac's idea)

Here it is:
And, the day after Mother's Day my beautiful Baby turned 6 months! Oh my goodness how time flies! I can't believe how big he is. Isn't he just the cutest! :)
Some stats: 21lbs 9oz, just over 28in tall. He scoots around everywhere, he is so fast, but only when he wants to. He LOVES food, some favorites are squash, pears and sweet potatoes. I am sure no one worries about him not eating enough! He babbles all the time, and loves to blow bubbles with his mouth. He loves to stand up, but you have to hold on to him, and he is sitting up really well, still just a little wobbly, but he is great. We sure are enjoying the adventure of watching him grow.
Here is Gavin with Grandpa at Amanda's birthday dinner. He LOVES to pull hair, so be warned.

Dr. Seuss Baby Shower

Well, my friend was having a baby, I say was because she has now had the baby! A cute little boy named Adam Dell Jensen 7lbs 15oz. Good thing we didn't wait until Saturday to have the party since she went into labor Friday night :)! Well, she recently graduated in Elementary Education and I felt that Dr. Seuss was a great theme for her baby shower. My GREAT friend Courtney sent me a link of ideas because I had just over a week to plan. And that is where I found the idea for the decorations and invites. I came up with the games on my own.

Here is the invite:

Here is the table of food:

I made oreo truffles, green deviled eggs, had a fruit platter, and a bread platter. We had frappe as the drink: rainbow sherbet with sprite. And I also put some suckers and red vines on the table for color and treats.

I decorated a few spots with Dr. Seuss Books.

Here is the gift table, I placed these books there because they were my gift.

When the guests walked in I had them self address an envelope with thank you cards in them so all she had to do was write them and stick a stamp on it.
We played two games: The one that I based off of Are You My Mother: was Who is My Mother? In this game I had each guest draw a picture of a baby and then write their name on a seperate paper. I taped all the names and all of the pictures to a board and they all had to guess who the 'mother' was, meaning who drew which picture. The person who guessed the most of them right won. The other game was from The Cat In The Hat. The cat balances many things on his umbrella. As a Mom you learn to balance a lot of things. I gathered many baby items, ex. baby food, spoon, diapers, wipes, pjs, change of clothes, jacket for you, jacket for baby, shoes, blanket, favorite book and toy, etc. I spread them around the room and whoever could gather them all together in the fastest time, while holding the 'baby,' a stuffed animal, won the game.
Then we ate and opened gifts. I hope Veralyn enjoyed her party and I LOVED throwing it for her.
Here are the sites where I received my inspiration: here and here
Obviously I did not spend the kind of money that they did in these other parties, but I still think that it turned out great.
